Board Member
John Just's 45-year career has been shaped by his considerable financial acumen and dedication to the creation of sound and workable financial systems and protocols as well as service to the community. He was appointed Manager, Financial Services, with the Queensland Police Service (QPS) in 1990 after 24 years with Australia Post culminating in his position as Manager of Queensland's Finance and Planning Department.
He was responsible for bringing the Governance Structure of the Queensland Police Service in line with the State Government's Financial Management Standards and was later appointed to a Whole-of-Government Committee which reviewed the complete financial policies of government and led to the development of the Financial Management Standards for all Government Agencies.
Since retiring in 2006, Mr Just has been deeply involved in community work including the establishment of a volunteer program at St Andrew's Hospital, now operating with more than 40 volunteers. He is also a member of the Scripture Union Queensland's Finance Risk and Audit Committee and Deputy Chair of the Board of Sureplan Friendly Society Ltd providing funeral insurance to both the industry and individuals. From October 2008, he has been commissioned to review facilities management of properties such as the Cultural Centre for Arts Queensland.
