AgForce supports the initiative of Stanwell Corporation’s ZeroGen clean coal demonstration project to examine the potential benefits of geo-sequestration to reduce emissions from coal fired powered generation.

The impact of climate change will affect agriculture significantly by altering rainfall and temperatures patterns. Queensland landholders know already the importance of emissions and have forgone development of land under legislation to meet greenhouse gas emission targets.

It is clear that commitment is required from other sectors including energy generation which have increased emissions significantly since 1990. To trial this new technology as a solution in Queensland is a step forward in dealing with the onset of climate change and the challenges that it may bring.

AgForce will work with its membership to ensure the project progresses with a minimum of disruption to agricultural operations through the project development phase, construction and ultimate commissioning.
